History

In 1965, Paul Koenig and a cadre of investors initiated a program of assembling acreage on Pines Boulevard, in Pembroke Pines.  In a short time, two and one half miles on the north side of Pines Boulevard from 184th Street to U.S. 27 had been acquired with one mile of frontage on U.S. 27, and three-quarters of a mile on Sheridan Street.  After some twenty years, plans were finalized to develop the property in a planned community with open-air green space around a 450 acre permanently protected Nature Preserve, 4,000 homes, a corporate park, schools, thirty five acres of commercial property and over 200 acres of lakes.
